When It Comes Down

When It Comes Down
Is preservation of our culture today
entirely dependent on what we would pay?
Out with the old it’s not New
York style apartments for you
unless of course you’re living in Sydney
So
Keep the facade but you gut the factory
and drink to profit and the low density
living that few can afford,
but hey you’ve got your reward
and whose heard of a classless society?
When It Comes Down
which side of the fence will you be standing?
I found half of the truth is what you are demanding
How sound is the view you are now commanding?
Who is that you’re listening to today?
When multi billion dollar profits are made
by public companies that we have all paid
to put the heat in our home or let us talk on the phone
is it not ethical to reduce our bills?
I would be foolish to exclude the bank fees
and that greed is the new social disease
and as services decline
it’s fewer pockets that are lined
with more and more and more of our money
When It Comes Down
which side of the fence will you be standing?
I found half of the truth is what you are demanding
How sound is the view you are now commanding?
Who is that you’re listening to today?
x 2
When It Comes Down
which side of the fence will you be standing?
I found half of the truth is what you are demanding
How sound is the view you are now commanding?
Who is that you’re listening to today?
When It Comes Down
which side of the fence will you be standing?
I found half of the truth is what you are demanding
How sound is the view you are now commanding?
Is anybody listening anyway?

I Go To Io

I left my home for the last time at 5.23am
There was a light cool breeze
And frost over all of the car windscreens
Then as I made my way
The sun burst through the sky
Like the first kiss between new lovers
I felt so alive
Despite all my nerves eating me from inside
Recalling all the training
From all of the years to get to here
Waylaying my fears
I like this
Sense of something
Not for nothing
Have I fought and have I sought
To be the astronaut I’m being
See the things that I am seeing
The countdown proceeded smoothly as I made my way
Over to the lift that would take us up to where they would strap us in
It’s never been like this before
Twenty minutes and
they locked the door as we did our final check again
I shot a thought of family and friends
I would probably never see again
Inside my helmet I heard ‘10’
The ship started to shake
And I felt my knees
And chest bearing the brunt
Of all the G’s
I sense something
Not for nothing
Have I fought and have I sought
To be the astronaut I’m being
See the things that I am seeing
Woo hoo
Woo hoo
Wo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo
We were woken up a day before we hit the field
Of irradiation
So surreal to be amongst the first to cross that field
And one of magnetism
Io swept onto our screen and as our place to go to do the research for all you now know
Coming into land so smoothly and so slow
Fire the retro boosters
I stepped out onto another moon
And looked out at the red spot humbled
I sense this something
Not for nothing
Have I fought and have I sought
To be the astronaut I’m being
See the things that I am seeing

Oh Yeah

Oh take their beaks and take their legs
Don’t look like chooks but they still lay eggs
Oh yeah
Then put em in a cage so small you’d think that they don’t think at all
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yeah x 4
A growth hormone named DET sees 8 year old kids hit puberty
Oh yeah
It’s used to fatten up the cows that wait to end up on your dinner plate
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yeah x 4
Oil from a Sperm Whale’s head is used to colour your hair red
Oh yeah
Your vanity for a life that’s fair so where’s the justice in that there
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
Oh yeah x 4
Fill the land, the sky, the sea
Will this be our great legacy
For those to come and those to see
the Twenty Second Century
We’ll be a joke, we’ll be despised
We think we’re so civilised
That we can come and do what we please
And bring this place right to its knees
Oh yeah x 4
